I have 2 new stainless props to try this season.... a 23 p Mirage Plus and a 23 p Lazer II. Both are new and not lab finished or tweaked... what differences will I see between the two props and far as performance goes??? My boat is a 21' Baja Islander with a 7.4l MPI.... I used to twist a 21 p Mirage Plus prop but it was always hitting the rev limiter and last year I tried a 23 p lab finished prop a friend loaned me and it worked SUPER.....

Just looking for a little info as to what I'll see when I try these two props out vs my old 21 p Mirage plus... Is the Lazer II a good prop for my boat or would I be better off just going with the Mirage Plus instead???

Thanks in advance.

I had both of those props for my 22' scarab, the Lazer II is seem to be more for a all around prop, good for everything, but not great for top end.
The mirage plus is made for performance boats, and offer better top end. You will have to play with your trim, because both will have a different sweet spot, at which they run the best on your trim indicator.

Mirage plus is normally the prop of choice(vs. Laser) with a Bravo drive.

The lazer is a small diameter and has more rake. They are generally better on lighter boats. You can try it but I'd say the Mirage+ will be the way to go.

We might be selling our 23p Mirage that has been sent to Throttle Up and has been tweaked. We might be going to a different prop.

I sent my 23 Mirage + to Houston Prop they do a ton of work on Baja's as you know. They did a great job and eliminated the blow out. I'm running 68.5 on GPS w/a 502. That's up from what I ran in the shoot out last year. I was clocked at 66 mph

The big difference between the two props is the blade surface area. The diameter on the Lazer II is 13.75 and the diameter on the Mirage Plus is 14.5/8. The lazer of course will have a higher RPM than the Mirage Plus. This is due to the difference in the diameter as well as the differences in blade surface area. The Lazer II is for boats less than 22' in length, it doesn't carry heavy boats well. I would suspect that you would need a larger Pitch in the lazer,IF it carries the boat well.

50 mph at 1/2 throttle banging the limiter is awesome? [smilie=126.gif]

Thats a LOT of slip. I was spinning it at 5000rpms and 62 on the speedo with the engine stock. It was freshly balanced from Bronson Hill when I got it. Still had the laser etching on it.

Griff,

It sounds as if the prop might need an adjustment. Call me with the details and I will try to help improve the prop.
