HiTech and I spent the day tearing out the interior of the 33 to add a few speakers. It's going to end up with 8 Diamond 661i's and two Alpine PDX amps and two 10" subs.
Thanks to PBC for the shop space [smilie=042.gif]

Me too - and who knows if I'll still have it in the spring
There has been a few questions on systems the last few months, I figured I'd take the pics to show what all goes into the install. Baja mounted speakers so close and low to the bolsters we had to remove them to get them out. We spent the better part of the am taking the boat apart, removing the old system and laying out the new one.

Making more holes
eddie
01-02-2007, 08:51 AM
test fit on the speakers - now the side panels have to be modified to fit the new speakers. The old holes with the stock Clarion speakers all had be opened up to 5.75" so the new Diamond speakers would fit.
Still waiting for the amps and four speakers to show up.

We put them in Charlie's 44 Sea Ray and they rocked the house [smilie=rocker] they also have a small footprint. They put out very clean power.

No, in my case I need more cone area, I am at right about 8000 watts and 8 batteries, so power is not an issue, but the simple fact that 4 12s in an open cockpit can only get so loud.
Must get more subs

Do not be confused by the power rating of the Alpine PDX series amps. The go by the new CEA-2006 power rating. They put out more power then other amps that boast 2-3 times the power. I was sceptical at first, but after we put them in Charlie's crusier I wouldn't buy anything else. One of the best things is they play very hard for hours.

150 watts RMS is pretty damned strong. I don't think their are even alot of speakers on the market that can handle that power.... [smilie=042.gif] without spending serious bookoo anyway...

Hey why did the factory put that access hole next to the co pilot/port Grab handle? I Have seen that on a couple other 33's and it didn't make much sense because there wasn't ever one on the starboard side.

I was at the KC Sports Show this week and found a WATERPROOF remote to consider.
www.h20waves.com
Remote options for the center of the steering wheel or key fob with 300 ft range. Plugs into the back of certain stereos and controls most functions.
Debating between this or a ipod w/ remote.
This would control the radio functions but could not forward or pause ipod tracks. ipod remote would not be much good for controlling radio or cd, 150 ft range and i would have to use a waterproof cell phone type bag.

What brand of Subs are you guys using for the boats. I am going to be upgrading my system over the winter and can’t seem to find a marine subs that can handle large power. I want to upgrade the 10” sub that is under my rear bench so it will potentially be exposed to some water.
Any suggestions would be great.
Christian
10-01-2008, 09:17 AM
I used the Diamond D6s and they have handled the large power just fine (so far) but I am only pushing ~1200 watts per 12" subs, but the 10"s should be able to handle 800-1000 per pretty easy in the correct enclosure
