Ok, I know Grumpy Bullet is interested, and I know of at least ten local guys who are in.
Here is the Plan.
Location: St. Charles Mo. Its about a 40min west of St. Louis. I can get my harbor to host the start. I believe I can get ramp usage for a small fee which will be absorbed in the entry fee.
Picture and Video: Included in fee. I have access to a helicopter and Video guy. The video will be edited and set to music. No less than ten photos will be also included with the entry fee.
Itinerary: Leave Woodland and head north 18 miles to the Winfield dam with Chopper in pursuit. River gets wide up by the dam. Any boats not getting exclusives will be sent back down the river by threes to get photos and video.
After all shots, chopper will run back down river with us to Alton Marina where we will spend the night and parrrrrrrrty. That's 36 miles. Alton has a terrific night life. Gambling Boat and Bars Galore. The Marina has hookups, Showers, Pool, Hot Tub, and shuttle service to downtown, which is only a half mile away.
When? Sometime late June or early July. This insures a clean river.
Rules? Entry fee should be between $250 and $300 depending on the size of the fleet. I have about $2500 of overhead. Additional hands can be purchased for $100. That keeps the high rollers in check.
Boats are only allowed to pass the pass boat when the chopper picks you up. Pass the Pace boat, get in the clean water to get your shots. When the chopper pulls away, drop back. Pace is set at 50 to 55mph.
Cards are haned out in sealed envelopes at the start and during stops. No Nets, No Hand written cards.
Lunch is provided when we reach Alton Marina.
Card winners will be determined at the evening get together where you will recieve your final card, (Place to be Determined) After that, the city is yours!!!!!!
This will be run just like Florida Powerboat Clubs runs. All money not used to pay for the event will be divided to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place hands.
I will be getting an LLC to run the event within a non profit club. Permits and permissions will aquired from the Water Patrol.
If I get enough interest before spring I should have enough time to get this together.

It sure sounds neat, $300 is step when I pay $50 or $25 a hand here, but we don't have chopper or any other events!

I hope we can get enough people tougher so we can get the cost around $250.00. Sounds awesome. Will all the stops be at Alton Marine?

If you ask ASH how fast their 38 runs, he might tell you that we have to slow the run down so he can keep up. [smilie=106.gif]
Don't listen to him, ask him how fast he was going trying to catch Augie Bush at LOTO
GEEEEZ eddie get off my back already. All the planets lined up that day and my mouth slipped.
I would LOVE to have chopper footage and all the other "new" treats of a different poker run. We have one up here on the 19th of June and we would like to hit LOTO on the 4th. I could prolly do the weekend of the 26th in June or the 10th in Jul. IF WE ARE DONE IN THE FIELDS that is. I think with three couples in the 38 it would be very comfortable and it would defray the cost for us. The crew is also talking about a Chicago trip this summer. I was thinking that would be an early Aug trip. I am not sure how many of these extra boat rides I can handle in a year but I will give it my best effort. Anyone interested in riding with us on this one if it pans out???????????

Ok, I'm writting all this down. I talked to Charlie at Alton Marina and Joann at my Marina Yesterday. Alton can accomodate us all and I believe I can negotiate a group rate. Joann has agreed to let us start from Woodland and use the ramp for $20 bucks a boat. We will make a retrun stop at Woodland on the way down to Alton for Lunch.
I realize the price is a bit higher than some but it's a lot cheaper than most. Poker Runs of America events are $600 with no video or pic included. Besides, you should have more than one person in your boat so have them pitch in.
I have confirmed food at the lunch stop. Barbeque sandwiches, chips, beans and a soda included in fee. The Poker hand party will include a room and apetizers, (Wings, Ravs, the usual). This has already been confirmed as the bar owner is a friend of mine. The only additional costs would be fuel, slip fee, and drinks.
Here is the breakdown so far.
Based on 20 Boats:
Total take in 5000.00
Ramp 400.00
Chopper 900.00
Video/Pic Dude 700.00
LLC not profit setup 200.00
Permit 50.00 Estimate
Lunch 400.00
Dinner Hall and Muchies 300.00
Reserve 50.00 Alton Harbor master/crew tips.
Difference 2000.00
Payout 1st 900.00
2nd 500.00
3rd 350.00
4th 250.00
This gets better with more boats and or hands, and I have'nt even started on the sponors yet.
I also have a few other things up my sleeve too.

HD- Not to change any of your plans, but why not let every one put in at the Public ramp? We used it and it was very nice. and its free. And we can all meet up some where.

Woodland is the starting point, so I thought that would be more convenient for everyone. I don't know if I can convince Joann to just let 20 or so boats into the harbor for take off and then return for lunch. Its all about the money. I have to grease the harbors hands to allow such an intrusive armada, especially a bunch of loud boats with alot of parking requirements. The ramp usage fee was a way of getting us in the door, if you know what I mean. Plus there is no current to deal with and the harbor is deep.

We are use to current launching, understand greasing the wheel.
Com' on GB $300 a hand, why you going cheap on the $20 launch fee [smilie=126.gif] I think my wife is interested, I think BSB and Jenny from the dock would go. Tope & DDD, 4F4 and Boatwindow - I'm sure we could get a few boats down. Can we make one requirement that all the girls must be in thongs for the helicopter shot?

I see, I forgot that it was the lunch stop I can see the cost. The reason I said some thing it would mean more prize money to the winner. The 300 is not a big deal I can just get another couple to go a split the hand.

I am in for this thing if it pulls through. And for the record I am officially out of the Chicago trip. Not gonna do it. eddie you could bring the OL down with and use it at LOTO on the same weekend. I am hoping to do the poker run catch a few ZZZZZZZZZZ's and hit LOTO the next day, depending on what day this so called run takes place.

By the way, I have 65 hours on my 2001 Eliminator. The trailer will for sure have more hours on it after it takes a trip down to Lake Havasu. Eliminator needs the boat back to take care of a little stress crack problem. But I need to get it to them, and they will ship it back.

Arighty then! I believe I got enough to light this candle. I got a recommendaion on lawyer to draw up the LLC for this thing. Right now I'm looking at July 10 and 11th or 17th and 18th. The river should be on her way down by then. You guys can vote on the weekend. I don't really have to nail it down until February.
Oh, i believe we can set the fee at $250.00. I'm getting a lot of local response. This thing is starting to snowball.
I'm sure the payout is going to be much better than I first advertised.
I will know more about all this after I have my first meeting with all the event planners, which I still have to find. I am going to suggest that the video guy bring everything he needs to get the prints ready before Saturday Night. I am also pushing for a CD of the pictures of the pictures to be included.
For all those arriving on the Friday before. There is a brand new motel 10mins away from the river off of highway 370 and Elm.
I will post a new thread with all the details in the next few weeks.

I really like the looks of the 20's and 22's on the SUV's, but any larger than 22's and your sidewall is pretty thin for towing or country roads! N-Lo and I just bought a new Beemer, so i'm probably going to send the navigator down the road. i'll swerve the duramax farm truck around for a while until i can pick up a little 4x4 truck to zip around in.

Update!
I have a sponsor for the liability insurance. We will apply for the permits throught the same sponsor. The sponsor is Little John's Marine Service. Already, the costs are growing a little. You wouldn't believe all the people that hold their hands out for favors. July 10th and 11th is beginning to lock in. I realize this will be the same week as the Smoke on the water in Mich, but that event is Ten hours away from St. Louis. Already I am getting a huge response from the locals. You know what the song says, (People on the River or Happy to Give!) Rollin of the River. Sounds like a good title for the the run eh?

Jeff, will do.
Ash, the marina we are staying at Saturday night has plenty of room. We might have to get a little creative on the lunch parking which is in the same marina we launch from. There will be shuttles for any far off parking for sure.
There is a brand new hotel, kinda like the express Holiday Inns, only five minutes from the launch marina.
Here is a picture of the marina. That's Bob parked on the end of J dock. The docks start with the letter A. Each has two rows of slips. The marina is only at about 60 percent capacity.

I forgot to mention that is the Saturday night docking. The marina books about sixty boats every year for the 4th of July. Most of them larger than 35 feet. The 60 foot docks can hold two to three smaller boats. The city of Alton and the Casino is withing walking distance. Downtown Alton has about 15 bars/restaurants. We will be playing the cars at Seafood Escape. I have close to twenty boats already, counting you three on this thread. If Grumpy Bullets buds come, that's another two or three.

No, I will have way to much goin on. I'll be the guy with the marine radio, aircraft radio, shortwave radio, pager, and cell phone. In fact, our boat won't even be in the first leg. I will drive it down on the second leg.
I plan on hiring a DJ for the pool if we get more than 25 boats. The more boats, the more activities. I even thought of havin a pie fight. How fun is that. Doing the Stooges thing on the docks. That way you can take your aggression out on all the guys that cut you off during the run.
