Here it goes.
1.5 gallons of apple cider
3 cinnamon sticks
bring to a boil
3 cups of white sugar
1 cup of brown sugar
stir slowly until dissolved
This is an important step
Take the pot off the heat and let cool. This takes about a 12 pack of beer. So when the beer is gone then proceed with great cation.
SLOWLY add the 1 liter of EVERCLEAR to the pot.(if you do this when the cider is to hot ... then the everclaer will boil out!!!)
The last step is to put it in containers. For the Liquid jungle i bought 20 oz water bottles, emptied the water and "poof" pie bombs that are boat friendly.
Have fun boys and girls.

This is the "high power" stuff i brought to the jungle. To make this more "drinkable" add another half gallon of cider.

Well the golf cart story goes a little something like this. Myself, Darrell, Jeremy and Matt hijacked Caines cart to go back to the truck after the poker run. on the journey we had to cross the dreaded train tracks then the busy 6 lane highway and then through the thick and dense jungle. Just as we entered the jungle we went down into a deep crevasse and rolled the cart at least a dozen times as the bodies of 4 grown men were thrown about like dog toys. The only injury was to Darrell. We couldn't understand what he was saying because of ALL his crying, but somehow the cart was laying on his legs [smilie=106.gif] . We pulled the cart out of the jungle got more apple pie and returned safely back to the bar. So what happened was ... I was driving with Darrell riding shotgun and the other guys on the back. As we crossed a ditch going into a field the cart rolled. Just because the cart has only 3 wheels!!! Sorry Cain, send me the bill. [smilie=061.gif]

Does anyone know if this needs to be refridgerated? and how long will it last?
do u use it more as a shot or just a drink?

I've had it keep for several months in the fridge. The Everclear does a pretty good job of preserving it.

The wife makes this all the time, I know that some do refrig. it and others let it set at room temp.
As well, some use it as a shot, as well as others who just drink it as their prefered drink

I was in the local carry out the other day and saw for the first time that you can buy apple pie by the bottle, they were handing out samples to those who walked in. They also had cherry pie.

the one thing i found experimenting with is recipe is that using 6 sticks, 5 cups of white, 2 cups of brown. it will completely mask the grain and gives you leeway to add more everclear and still have a nice sweet taste.
for some reason this has made some people gun shy to drink my apple pie...

We've made it with a combo of apple juice and apple cider. We also throw in some Captain. We also drink it cold. Tasty stuff.

Or lack of memory. ;)
I make mine 1/2 apple cider and 1/2 apple juice.......the other ingredients are basically the same.
I usually serve them as a 2-3 oz shot with a dab of whipped cream and sprinkle of cinnamon to top it off.
GOOD STUFF!!!!!!!!!!

Here is our recipe, yes it does need to be refrigerated. We usually put it in the freezer, prefer to serve the shots very cold.
Apple Pie shots
Ingredients
2 quarts of Apple Cider
1 quart of Apple juice
1 cup of sugar
4 cinnamon sticks
500 ml of Everclear
Directions
Combine all ingredients minus the Everclear into a larger pot. Bring to a low boil, after boiling for 5 to 10 minutes, remove from the burner and let cool to room temperature. Add the Everclear and enjoy. Its best to buy name brand Apple cider and juice, off brands can leave it tasting bitter.

Will that much sugar even dissolve?
wwmkwood

It will in hot cider.
That recipe seems to call for a lot of sugar.
I personally do not use that much sugar but everyone's taste is different.
I would suggest, (not trying to insult anyone) to anyone making their first batch........ cut back, at least, 1/2 on the sugars. You can always always cook it.... sample..... and then add more sugar if you feel it needs it.
The first couple times I ever made it......... I split the mixture into 4 pots and experimented with sugar amounts and cinnamon amounts until I got the right taste for me. .........
.
.
.
....Then I added the EVERCLEAR, had a few shots.......
.
.
......and could not touch my nose let alone tell the difference[smilie=trink39]

Spiced rum or like a bicardi
We always use a plain rum.........and with all the juice it does not have to be a top shelf rum..........you can't tell the difference when it's mixed.
Remember to put it in glasses with lots of ice!!!!

Mixed up our first batch last Tues. Didn't have a large pan to mix it all in so it was a real mess. I guess we'll be mixing this a lot in the future because on Friday the boss had a present for me......a 3 gal stainless steel pot.
This stuff is EXCELLENT! We'll definitely be keeping a couple gals of this handy for the dock and the cove.
Somebody said to splash a little tequila rose on top of the shot and it tastes like a la mode? Anybody have any other suggestions?
Can you leave the cinnamon sticks in the bottles or should you take them out? Just wondering if they would add to the taste as it ages a little.
