Was thinking about running a couple cans of Fuel injector cleaner thru the gas on this first tank of the year. Anybody have an opinion good or bad idea?

I would not! Either do it right and romove them and clean or dont do it at all.It could just loosen up the grim and clog the system plus its hard on them. Just My .03

Yeah, what SuperV said. What's the reason you feel these need cleaning? Poor starting, performance, etc. Not a fun job to pull them out, but it's the right way.

Thats cuz you have not pulled the injectors to see  Keep doing it and you will see without pulling them [smilie=011.gif]

Do the EFI systems have a small screen or filter prior to the injectors to catch crap. I talked to a guy with a 95 Formula that was having perf. problems and he took it in to Glencove and it needed a new screen or filter down in there somewhere. I have little knowledge of EFI systems. Back in the day when I was more of a gear head it was all carbs.

So what does it do to the injectors? Why do they make the stuff if it damages the injectors?

I'm not having any perf problems. This thread started with a question about the fuel injector cleaner /octane booster that I got on sale at the parts store and was wondering whether to use it or not. Any knowledge on this subject is good for me my last 2 boats were carbeurated. I also wonder whats in this stuff, I figured it was alcohol basically. Also any thoughts on ethanol fuels, or should a guy stay with regular or premium gas. Thanks in advance for for your opinions.

Most of that stuff is CRAP mix some race fuel about 50/50 with a quality pump gas and open her up / watch your temps and check your plugs.....common tune up......Do a search on octane additives THEY SUCK!!!!

Not surprised, allways have been a little leary of the snake oils they sell in a can for engines. Such as stop leaks and engine tune ups in a can.
