Anyone have any experience with these? Looking for a simple and inexpensive way to add a little pep to the stock system. Any suggestions?

NO!!!!!

All this will do is tease you and make you go out and buy a real set up.

You would be better off upgrading your stock 6.5's to a speaker that can handle about 60W RMS. (polk audio db's are $99 and half off second pair)
with an amp that will feed each speaker with over 50w RMS.

add 1-12" orion or kicker with a mono amp just for it.

or 1 amp that you can bridge down your sub to two channels and run a pair of 6.5s off the other 2 channels.

You'll be good to go for awhile.

Stereo systems fever is kinda like boat fever.
If you hear a louder system or better system you will instantly want a bigger system.

It has been said on this forum before and I am a believer.
DONT RIDE A BIGGER OR FASTER BOAT UNLESS YOU ARE READY TO BUY ONE!
you wont want to go back.

ONCE YOU GO BIG , YOU WONT GO BACK!

rayj is correct, if you just have a stock system a sub will just overpower your sound. [smilie=rocker]

I'm not set on this by any means. I'm having trouble with where to put the sub enclosure. Most go under the rear bench. I've got a chap bowrider 230 ssi in which the entire rear seat area raises for engine access. Any ideas?
here is a pic.

230 ssi , is that a LARSON

I put my sub in under the dash on the passenger side (i have 202br crownline)

It is not a permanent enclosure. I like the fact that i can take it out if I need to by just unplugging the wires.

That just my preference, most people have the exclosure custom made for their boat.

post pics of your boat and that may help us out.

I put one of the rear seat area up in the previous message. The passenger side has a head, so no go there. I was thinking under drivers side maybe?
Its a Chaparral. Thanks for the help.

If you dont want to spend A LOT on a system ($1500+) then here is a good system that will be classy and sound great in your boat.

The system also will have a little power for you to grow on. Just in case you want to add a few more 6.5's later. (cheaper to buy just a little more power than be under powered)

For the 6.5s go with Polk Audio DB 2 way. They are $99 for the first pair and $59 for the second pair. TOTAL= ~$ 150.00 (if you go for six go ahead and get eight and send me the last two, :)))

If you wantt o be safe and marine approved then go with:
infinity Kappa Marine Total = $149 a pair 70 watts RMS 2way
.

The amp for these components wwould be:

Profile 60x4 , 180x2 bridged.$ 129 You can run 1 speaker to 1 channel or 2 speakers to 1 channel ( to free up a channel) just dont run 2 speakers on 1 bdgd channel and 2 speakers on the other bdgfchannel, this would cause it to run to hot!
on bdgd will be fine. this give you one free channel.

For the sub. 1 free air (not box needed) 10" Kicker solo baric. $ 200 I chose the 10" because I think that would fit your music taste. A 10" is great for rock , jazz, alternative. A 12" is great for hip hop , rap and such.

This is the TRICKY PART. The placement of the 10" may require you to cut into the fiberglass under the rear bench right behind the passenger seat.

This is a great loctaion because the whole HULL and the storage under the seat will act as a box and the bass will barrel through the boat.
But it will be a nice fit and out of the way from kicks and spills.

The amp for the sub would another Profile 225x2, but actually a four channel so you can add MORE Speakers later if you wanted to.

All wattage is quoted in RMS values, max is crap, dont build your system off of max values.

All prices and items were quoted from Crutchfield.

Yes you can buy it cheaper if you search the web.
Yes you can get better systems , but it will cost MORE.

I think this setup would be perfect for you.

4-6.5 polk audios=$150
1-10" Kicker solo Baric= $200
1 Profile 60x4= $130
1 profile 225x2= $150
Wiring/self install= $100
Total: $730

Add 2 more 6.5's = $830 or add 4 and send me the second pair for = $880

or use 6 marine infinitis instead of polk dbs = $1,030

Hope that helps.

I have the bazooka 10" marine enclosure and it helped out a lot.
I also upgraded the rest of the speakers, at the same time
